Join inspirational Ealing-based British television presenter and Paralympian basketball player Ade Adepitan as he discusses his life and work with Lorraine Heggessey, former Controller of BBC1.
From Nigeria to the East End, hear about his journey to become sporting hero, TV presenter, commentator and children’s author, through determination and positivity. Surviving childhood polio, Adepitan became a Member of the British Empire for services to disability sport in 2005.
He has presented a range of travel, documentary and sport programmes for television including as a regular reporter on BBC One Show and documentaries on climate change and Africa. He featured as one of three wheelchair basketball players featured in the groundbreaking 2002 BBC One ident Hip-Hop. Since presenting Channel 4’s coverage of the London 2012 Paralympic Games ten years ago in 2012, an Olympics that changed attitudes towards disabled people, Adepitan has become a household name.
Adepitan has also released four children’s books all based on stories from his own childhood, as a Nigerian child with a disability growing up in East London during the 1980s.
