Pitzhanger Late: The Gardening Drawing Club

(Almost) Ikebana 10

Artist Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck will guide participants in creating a flower arrangement following (or almost following) the Japanese principles of Ikebana. You will make life drawings and paintings inspired by the plants growing in Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery’s gardens before painting on paper cups to hold the plant materials.

Flowers and foliage will come directly from Pitzhanger’s gardens, and will be cut on the day by The Gardening Drawing Club team, providing local and fresh materials. All flowers and artwork can be taken home at the end of the workshop. Plant and mineral-based pigment paints will be used, and organic herbal tea will be offered at the start of the session as an invitation to slow down.

Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck has been an Ohara Ikebana student since 2018 and is presently an advanced student under 1st Master Shoko Holness.
