Starting in February, Pitzhanger is hosting weekly Open Sundays, featuring a drop-in art activity for families!

12 February: Rubber Stamp Wallpapers

This session will be led by illustrator and animator Lauren Veevers, using rubber stamps of leaves, plants, and birds with inks to create patterns and scenes on paper, inspired by the Chinese wallpaper in Sir John Soane’s Upper Drawing Room. You will complete your piece by collaging images of furniture from magazines over top to bring them to life as a home setting!

19 February: Experimental Drawing

Artist Lauren Veevers will lead an experimental drawing session, drawing things collected from the gardens or images of objects from the manor using different materials and challenges – for example ‘drawing with your eyes closed’ or ‘drawing with the wrong hand’ to explore different ways of mark making and capturing the atmosphere and feelings about the house and gardens.

26 February: Sculpture & Architecture

Join artist Amy Leung in a sculpture workshop that invites you to design, imagine and create a new part of Pitzhanger Manor or your dream house. Using drawing, small scale construction and drawing from motifs and shapes from Soane’s architecture: what would you like to add to the building or what would your dream house look and feel like? We’ll use everyday materials like cardboard and paper in inventive, playful, open ended ways to realise our dream models.

• This is a drop-in event with free access to Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm.
• Spaces in the session will be available on a first-come-first-served basis based on the size of the room.
• There is no advance booking for this event.
