Overview

Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery presents a special Open Sunday for Open House Festival 2023. The festival is led by a community of Londoners who, for the duration of the festival, open up buildings they own, work or care for free so that visitors can explore.

Participants of all ages can explore the architectural wonders of Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery with a playful, family-oriented tour of the Manor led by artist and educator Sarah Richardson, and a drop-in family workshop with artist Tamira Kitchens to play with architectural ideas inspired by the designs of Sir John Soane, the architect of Pitzhanger.

Storytelling Tour with Sarah Richardson:

Drop in for Sarah Richardson’s storytelling tour! The tour will be 30-45 minutes in length, and there are two time slots:

  1. 10:30am – 11:00am
  2. 11:30am – 12:00pm

Drop-in Family Workshop with Tamira Kitchens

In this workshop you’ll be designing your dream houses, taking inspiration from Sir Anthony Caro and other architects to think about what to put into your design and sketching it up. Then you will be building a small cross sectional model of your design which you can bring home with you! You can design your entire house, or just choose one room to focus on in your model.

Drop-in from 10:30am – 12:30pm in the Education Room, space permitting.

Open House Festival

Open House Festival is a two-week celebration (Wednesday 6 – Sunday 17 September 2023) of London’s homes, architecture and neighbourhoods. It celebrates our curiosity for what happens inside the buildings that we walk past every day; a festival that works to give all Londoners the chance to learn from the city’s best architecture and the people behind it.
