About this event
To coincide with the current exhibition, Soane Restored, join this perimeter tour of Sir John Soane’s country manor. The tour will recount how Soane designed the building to be an expression of his own life and work which tells the story of his architectural, artistic and intellectual influences. Revealing the crafts skills involved in the restoration, the tour will explain how the project included a reinstatement of the building’s original layout. Revealing some of the processes of restoration, the tour will look at the re-creation of the decorative elements, such as caryatids, urns and stone roundels, that were derived from classical antiquity. Tours to be booked in advance.
Please note a ticket to the tour does not include entry into Pitzhanger Manor and Gallery which must be booked seperately.
