Overview
Join us for an exclusive Members’ Exclusive Preview of Grayson Perry: The Vanity of Small Differences (10 July – 8 December 2024).
The six vast and vibrant tapestries by the Turner Prize-winning artist re-tell the story of William Hogarth’s A Rake’s Progress, providing a modern-day satirical commentary on class and taste, décor and decorum. It is particularly exciting to bring the tapestries to Pitzhanger – the home for which the Soanes bought Hogarth’s A Rake’s Progress in 1802 to display to their visitors. A focused display on Hogarth in John Soane’s manor will bring the Chiswick artist’s celebrated series, Gin Lane and Beer Street, to hang alongside Pitzhanger’s own original C18th prints that tell the riches-to-rags tale of Tom Rakewell.
We expect the exhibition to be enormously popular and so wanted to offer Members a special opportunity to see it before the crowds with an Exclusive Preview day on Wednesday 10 July from 11am and 2pm, priory to opening to the public on 11 July. We will be offering a Director’s/Curator’s introduction at 12am and 3pm. The Pitzhanger Café will be open all day, so why not combine with your friends to enjoy a summer exhibition Preview Day atmosphere, with coffee and cakes, or even prosecco and aperitifs!
Book here to avoid disappointment and be among the first to see Grayson’s cheeky and fun tapestries at Pitzhanger.
