Join figurative artist Bella Franks for traditional life drawing in the historic Upper Drawing Room. The class will be focused on the ‘architecture of the body in space’, taking inspiration from our upcoming exhibition Anthony Caro: The Inspiration of Architecture, open from 9 March, in which space is explored in relation to the human figure.
Bella is known for bringing a positive and supportive energy to her classes, believing that everyone has the power to enjoy the creative process and discover their own expression, without self-criticism or inhibition.
A relaxed drawing class working with a live, unclothed model, using pencils, biros and colour. The class will begin with a series of dynamic warm up poses followed by longer poses with our model who will take inspiration from the architectural forms of Caro’s work. Bella will be on hand to give tips throughout.
The class will be accompanied by a playlist to help you relax and find your flow at the drawing board.
The class is suitable for everyone and complete beginners are welcome.

Bella Franks began life drawing under the tutorage of Dilip Sur at the age of 14 and fell in love with the traditional practice right away. From her own experiences of finding calm through drawing, Bella started her life drawing class business Bella’s Bits & Bobs with the intention of bringing the therapeutic quality of drawing to as many people as she could.
