Explore identity and take part in a sewing project with our Welcome Create Studio and tailor Lorraine Mitchell.
On Tuesday 25 February and Tuesday 3 March Lorraine Mitchell and Sarah Edwards lead sewing workshops in our Welcome Create sessions exploring identity, taking their cue from the wallpaper in the Upper Drawing Room and the tradition of sewing. Come and see the work from these two sessions on display in the Monk’s Dining Room on International Women’s Day and have a go at creating something yourself!
Pop Up Talks
Hear 10 minute talks given by staff and volunteers throughout the day about the hardships of being a Georgian Lady and powerful women of the Georgian era including Ada Lovelace and Eleanor Coade.
11:00: Eight Etiquette Expectations of being a Georgian Lady. Join Silvie for a for a 15 minute introduction to discover what it meant to be a woman in the Georgian Era.
12:00: Ada Lovelace: the First Computer Programmer. Join Sophia for a for a 15 minute introduction to Ada Lovelace and her remarkable career.
14:00 The Women of Pitzhanger Manor. Join Catherine for a Public Guided Tour throughout the Manor, telling stories of the women that have influenced, and been influenced by, Pitzhanger Manor.
15:00: Eleanor Coade and the Miraculous Invention of Coade Stone. Join Teresa for a 15 minute introduction to Eleanor Coade and her invention of the Coade stone that shaped Pitzhanger Manor.
