Design your own unique play space inspired by Anthony Caro: The Inspiration of Architecture in this all-ages family workshop with artist Emily Hopkins!
Many of Anthony Caro’s sculptures look like they might be play spaces and some of them inspire curiosity to explore the space inside! In this session we’ll reimagine our play spaces and think about how we could design sculptures we could play on no matter what age you are. What would they look like? What would the sculptures do? Where would they be?
Emily is an artist and arts educator working in London. She has delivered workshops in a number of different educational settings for the National Gallery, October Gallery, Lauderdale House, Dulwich Picture Gallery, Bow Arts Trust, Grand Junction and more. Her aim is to plan and deliver workshops with fresh perspectives on arts education by working across a number of disciplines, proposing thoughtful questions and starting points and allowing students to play, experiment and reflect meaningfully on their work.
As an artist, Emily looks at the natural environment, how environments interact with one another and how we interact with the environment around us. The importance of materials, processes and our interactions with them is also fundamental to her practice. She works with a range of materials and techniques to create work including drawing, print, collage, wood, ceramics and textiles.
