“Light as a Butterfly” Drawing & Making Drop-in Workshop
Sunday 20 April
Join artist Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck for a soothing workshop where children and their accompanying adults can explore the profound benefits of Form Drawing. Based on the methods of Yoko Tanoue, this session uses drawing, eye movement, and mindful breathing to guide you through mental release, relaxation, and energy restoration.
Building on the success of previous sessions, participants are invited and supported to be deeply absorbed in the creative process, often working on multiple sheets of paper for extended periods. This session offers an opportunity to experience the therapeutic power of Form Drawing, entering a state of flow as you engage in this calming practice. The figure of eight, central to this Form Drawing prompt, mirrors the graceful movement of butterfly wings and leaves. This shape supports motor skill development and synchronicity, particularly for younger children. Participants will also create cards and small booklets using their drawings.
Form Drawing benefits both children and adults, promoting relaxation, the release of stress and trauma, and a sense of playfulness and joy. To deepen the experience, Johanna will again incorporate local flowers and foliage from the lush gardens and park of Pizhanger. These hand-picked elements, displayed on the tables, offer inspiration and calm colour combinations, inviting you to connect with your inside nature as you draw.
Tickets included with general admission
