‘Literary Ealing: Authors and their Subjects’

Overview

Starting at Pitzhanger Manor this guided walk will take in the world’s best-selling detective author, Agatha Christie, visit a building connected with two song writing icons of British rock music, and hear about the eighteenth-century writer who created Tom Jones, and the author of A Town Like Alice. We will see where one of the famous co-founders of the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company was educated, visit the HQ of the famous Ealing Studios where scriptwriters and books abound, and finally conclude our walk in the Ealing Broadway Centre where the author of the Billy Bunter books once lived.

About Your Tour Guide

Alan Fortune is a qualified guide in the City of Westminster and the Borough of Camden.  From 2016-19 he was Director of the course which trains guides for the Borough of Camden.  He currently leads walks in Ealing, Soho, Fitzrovia, Bloomsbury and, St. Pancras.

Elaine Wein is a City of Westminster Guide, City of London Guide, A Freeman of the City of London and a London Borough of Camden Guide.  Having lived in Ealing for over 20 years, she has a passion for helping others discover this fascinating and diverse borough.
