Leading historian Roger Moorhouse tells the fascinating story of two ordinary people who forged documents that saved thousands of Jewish lives in World War II and our chair, ex-BBC journalist Rebecca Jones, is looking forward to discussing this and the history surrounding this story with Roger on Thursday.
Roger Moorhouse is one of the leading historians of Germany and World War II. A visiting professor at the College of Europe in Warsaw, his previous books include Killing Hitler, Berlin at War,and First to Fight: The Polish War 1939.
Rebecca Jones was the BBC’s Arts Correspondent for more than two decades, interviewing leading art and literary figures as well as a Chief News Presenter on BBC1, BBC2, BBC World and the BBC News Channel. She also presented the television books programmes Meet the Author and Talking Books and has judged the Costa Book Awards and the British Book Awards and regularly hosts public events at organisations including the Cheltenham and Hay Literature Festivals, the Royal Opera House and the Old Vic.
The aim of Ealing Book Festival is to celebrate the joy of reading and to advance engagement and education around literature and reading. Through our events we hope to bring people and communities together; inspire and develop writers of all ages; showcase well-known authors and promote local writers, and grow book-loving audiences.
