In 1962 the core members of The Rolling Stones met and performed their first gigs at the legendary Ealing Jazz Club. Join their founding bass player Bill Wyman to hear more about his extraordinary career, and his two most recent books. A keen diarist, ‘Billy in the Wars’, chronicles his childhood during World War 2, while ‘Bill Wyman’s Chelsea’ is an exhaustive guide to the area where he has lived since 1982.
Bill Wyman was born in London in 1936, and joined The Rolling Stones in 1962, embarking on a 30 year career as the founding bass player of one of the world’s most successful Rock ‘n Roll bands. After leaving the Stones in 1993, Bill he pursued a successful solo career, as well as forming his own band, The Rhythm Kings.. An avid diarist, collector and archivist, he is the author of 13 books
The aim of Ealing Book Festival is to celebrate the joy of reading and to advance engagement and education around literature and reading. Through our events we hope to bring people and communities together; inspire and develop writers of all ages; showcase well-known authors and promote local writers, and grow book-loving audiences.
