About this event
Come and celebrate the final few weeks of our Rana Begum: Dappled Light exhibition with a FREE, all-ages drop-in drawing workshop in the gallery with artist Lucia Ferguson. First, explore the use of layered colours and free-line pencil drawing as you work with the shapes and textures from Rana Begum’s own amazing artwork.
Then, be inspired by the texture and colour of Rana Begum’s fascinating jesmonite pieces by creating textural drawings using chalk on coloured paper. Participants will then be able to turn their textures into collages or patterns that reference the curation of the works in the gallery.
Lucia Ferguson is a creative educator and practising artist based in London. She works across drawing and sculpture in many mediums, including clay, plaster and fabric, and has recently completed a large-scale mural painting. Uniting the work is her interest in bringing together the real and the imagined, amalgamating observational drawing and making with playful, abstract elements, to create surreal spaces and objects.
