As the school year winds to a close, we are celebrating the amazing artwork created by our local primary schools in response to Anthony Caro: The Inspiration of Architecture!

Beaconsfield Primary School

The Year 4 group from Beaconsfield Primary School came to Pitzhanger in May for a workshop with artist practitioner Emily Hopkins to create their own cardboard sculptures inspired by the work of Anthony Caro. The students worked in teams to sketch their shapes, cut them out of cardboard, and then piece them together to create an assemblage before spray painting them different colours.

Christ The Saviour Church of England Primary School

Students of multiple year groups from Christ The Saviour Primary School’s Art Club came to Pitzhanger over the course of a week to take inspiration for these amazing artworks. The students sketched the shapes and contours of Caro’s sculptures, taking the sketches back to school to create these multimedia low-relief collage works.

Selborne Primary School

A Year 4 class from Selborne Primary School created these paper sculpture reliefs for display outside their classroom, using the Teacher’s Resource Pack developed by artist Emily Hopkins as part of our Teacher’s CPD session earlier in the year.
