Bukayo Saka’s portrait is currently on display at Pitzhanger Manor to celebrate his nomination for The Freedom of the Borough of Ealing, the highest award that the Council can bestow.
The portrait was created by the artist Matt Small as part of a project to depict the full England squad and manager of the EURO 2020 England football team. Saka was part of a group of players from a diverse set of backgrounds who made history with their sporting achievement and their ability to engage and inspire the nation.
Commissioned by the Football Association, all portraits were exhibited at the St George’s Park training ground during the EURO 2020 finals in summer 2021 and as a display This is England at Pitzhanger Gallery in November 2021.
The portrait is now on display in Pitzhanger Manor’s small drawing room, where Sir John Soane would have displayed his own art collection here more than 200 years ago.
