In this workshop, artist Emily will guide you through the ancient weaving technique of the ‘foragers basket’. Drawing inspiration from our current exhibition, Anthony Caro: The Inspiration of Architecture, you’ll also delve into the sculptural essence of this method. Let’s make botanical tiles together! Artist Ola Hincapié will take you through traditional tile-making methods, creating intricate impressions from stems, leaves, branches, flowers, and plants from Walpole Park. You’ll leave with your own beautiful tile and memories of a fun-filled evening.

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of HMT Empire Windrush’s arrival in Britain, we are hosting a free workshop with artist Candice Rodney-Sobers. You’ll make a fabric sample from discarded strips and learn about Caribbean Madras fabric’s journey from Chennai, India, to the Caribbean. All materials are provided.
