Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery Trust is seeking new Trustees to join its Board at an exciting moment for the charity. Our mission is to initiate exceptional creative encounters for everyone, empowering expression, inspiring discovery and enriching our community. We achieve this through an imaginative and wide-ranging programme of exhibitions, outreach and engagement activities which enable a broad and diverse audience in Ealing, West London and beyond to ignite their creative potential.
Pitzhanger Manor is the Grade I listed country house of influential British architect Sir John Soane, designed and built by Soane 1800-1804 in what was then rural Ealing. In 2019 the award-winning NLHF & ACE-supported renovation project restored the Manor to Soane’s original designs and upgraded the adjacent Gallery, creating a new major arts and culture site in West London.
In 2024/25 we welcomed record numbers of more than 65,000 visitors to Pitzhanger, exceeding pre-Covid levels, through our varied programme of exhibitions, workshops and events. More than 20% of these visitors were engagements through the different strands of our learning & community outreach programme, which includes our schools workshops where we are working towards creating meaningful engagement with every school in the Borough of Ealing.
Our exhibitions programme was launched with Anish Kapoor’s acclaimed exhibition of mirror sculptures, setting the tone for the ambitious programme of exhibitions to follow which have included Es Devlin, Rana Begum, Anthony Caro and Grayson Perry. Alongside these internationally recognised names we have worked with local artists, collectives and community groups to bring new audiences to Pitzhanger. In 2025 we will open a major exhibition of Howard Hodgkin, as well as an ACE-funded exhibition of Permindar Kaur, alongside the work of Southall-born artist Prem Sahib.
Having successfully taken Pitzhanger to opening and through the challenges of Covid, the Trust now needs your help in guiding us through the next period of our development. This will focus on broadening our reach to new audiences, expanding our education and outreach activities, continuing the momentum of our exhibition programme, developing new sources of funding and strengthening our operational resilience.
